the history of thanksgiving poorly told

a few days back I tried explaining to my nanni what thanksgiving was.  it was hard.  it went kind of like this.

on thursday everyone has off from work and schools are closed.  ( i couldnt come up with a word for holiday) and everyone goes to their family's home and has a big dinner.  there is a special (khaas) kind of food made of something similar to chicken but bigger.

i felt like i did a bad job and so i tried again.  but of course my limited vocab made me repeat all the same stuff again. saying nonsense twice doesn't make it make any more sense.

And finally:

Three weeks to chill.
An entire years worth of fasting.
Oh if I could only go back,
Around the date of the incident,
A little chopping and cutting of bad people.

Later when boredom sets in,
Fill in any school related word.
Must practice sleeping on flannel sheets!
I have flannel balls stuck to me.
Serious problems getting the straw in the thing.

here is how my stress relief works...

ive been blogging for a few years now (counting xanga) but ive found that simple plain old blogging can get a little boring. so i wanted to try to find something interesting for myself to write aside from the normal crap. well i came across a site dedicated to deletion poetry which is a ridiculously awesome concept and i decided i would have to find something like it but my own. basically the general idea behind deletion poetry is that you take a whole bunch of writings and force yourself to use words or phrases from specific lines or something like that. i guess could take a phrase from the forth line of 10 poems and make another poem from it...i think. i may not be completely accurate about the rules but i guess you customize them to suit yourself. well i didnt wanna completely copy someone else and i didnt wanna take words/lines from anyone else of course, so i came up with a plan.

i will setup rules and then dig up the phrases from my own writing. most of my blog has just random thoughts and writings...which up until now have either bored readers or frightened them...now i will turn the crap into art! i hope. i make no guarantees.

Here is my first one:

You should try it...
Admit that he is the scariest librarian,
If you don't like that, then too bad.
Isha time now, gotta Pray!
Dental school in three days.

Sick of studying and it seems so useless,
Ages get stuck in your head.
Concerning the greatness of the Eagles,
I was a little embarrassed so i just left,
After losing the first 2 games.

its pretty funny how strange the phrases seem out of context. but admittedly its fun to rearrange the phrases and give them a whole new context. the rules i set for this one were simple: a phrase from the 4th line (or the last line if the post was shorter than 4 lines) from the first 10 posts i wrote. then i rearranged them.

i need to find the site where i got the idea and share with all.

the grapes of wrath

so tired and exhausted at the moment. but ok so, grapes. not sure how most people eat them but ive realized how discriminating i am with them. i had a bowl the other day and i was picking them off the stem thing and popping them into my mouth. the only thing is that i was constantly checking to make sure the grapes i got were firm and crispy. its like instinct. press gently and check the strength of the grape and if i can feel it mushy...move on. slowly there were more and more mushy ones and less and less good ones. eventually i compromised my principles and ate ones that i originally rejected. i think i felt a little embarrassed coming back to them....but there were slim pickins by then. of course, near the conclusion of the grape bowl i had some grapes i just could not eat. they were gross as hell. not quite raisin. not quite grape. some kind of purgatory between the two lives.

that's when i usually offer some grapes to people around me.

wealth and woot

one day when i'm filthy rich and can't find anything useful to do with my money...but just before i start to use it in place of toilet paper...i will purchase EVERYTHING that goes up on a woot-off. then since i wont have any use for any of it, i will give it all away. so generous of me. i know.

until that happens i will continue to hit F5 in curiosity.

Haroon purchased a copy of modern warfare 2 for me. most likely b/c he wants me to test it out and make the financial comittement before he does. so one of these days when i have time i will get on the 360 and get to work...i hope the game does not disappoint!

cap a chino

Well I had another bizarro dream as I usually do. Simple and straightforward this time. I was making cappucinos. I pressed the coffee into a little filter thing like you are supposed to when making espresso. I did it all with zeal and carefully watched the brew fill up. I steamed the milk and poured the espresso in my small mug from an obnoxious height because it made the process look fancy.

In the end I woke up before I even had a sip.

the heart is hard to carry

tonight it's game 6 and the phils will once again fight with their backs against the wall. most national guys have the yankees winning tonight and finishing the phillies off but i hope we'll have a game 7. game 7's are fun. plus i dont want the season to end.

a patient told me something today about her father who recently passed away. made me sad. it actually kind of shocked me because she got me a little off guard and for a minute i lost myself. anyway i talked to her for a bit and she gave me some good life advice. sometimes patients will help you without ever knowing that they do. i guess everyone helps each other. her father died after several strokes and a 10 year fight with alzheimers.

Big weekend

As if Fox didnt promote themselves enough to make sure you wouldnt forget but today is HUGE for philly vs nyc.

Eagles and Giants at 1.
Phils and Yankees at 8.

best part is that it is held together by packers and vikings at 4:15.

i think i know what i will be doing all day today. better pop some antacids. junk food ignition will be on. i just hope sabathia doesnt show up. ryan howard learns to hit. and eagles decide to play football.
